Going Out
One of the "Practical Life" exercises for the elementary level student is "Going-Out".
This is a point of arrival for responsible students who need to continue their investigations
beyond the limits of the classroom. It usually involves small groups of 3 to 6 students who have
begun research in an area of interest; and who are capable of using community resources to further
pursue their study.
Such trips might include visits to libraries, colleges or universities, museums, corporations,
factories, retail stores or interviews with community professionals. The upper elementary students
even get to go sailing! The opportunity for these trips may occur without advance notice, hence
the need for this permission form from you. This permission form also covers bus trips to the symphony.
In the elementary years children want to learn about a larger society and begin to find
their place within it. Excursions, both large and small, assist them in understanding the
world in which they live. The elementary students need to learn how to conduct themselves
both within the classroom environment and in the larger community.
Students will be preparing ahead of time for these trips and returning with new information.
This is a "Practical Life" experience for the 6 -12 year old.
