Metro East Montessori School Celebrating Over 40 years of Montessori education
Giving to Others
Here at Metro East Montessori School, we feel that community service and giving back to others is an essential aspect of the children’s educational experience. We are proud to participate in many community-oriented activities:
Recycling
We are proud participants in Madison County’s Recycling program. It is imperative to us that the children have the resources to become advocates of the environment. We strive to help preserve and protect our environment through various recycling programs.
At our facility we collect for recycling printer cartridges, cell phones, paper, aluminum cans, soda bottles, batteries and we participate in the "T-Shirts for Newborns in Need" program.
H.I.S. K.I.D.S.
Each year, Metro East Montessori School teams up with H.I.S. K.I.D.S., Inc., a non-profit organization serving children with cancer and other related illnesses and their families since 1984. In December, our school sponsors a family in need and provides them with necessities such as clothing, toiletries, and other such items.
Optimist Club Singing
Each holiday season, the elementary children of Metro East Montessori School bring their wonderful signing voices to the local Optimist Club. It’s a great time for the children to share some holiday spirit as well as interacting with local community members.
Trivia Night Volunteers
Each year, the upper elementary students volunteer their time to assist the parents' group with Trivia Night. The students collect trivia cards, sell raffle tickets, serve desserts, clear tables, and organize recycling.
Stamps for Wildlife Habitat
The Illinois Audubon Society collects new and used/canceled stamps and resells them to purchase land for use as wildlife habitat. Leave 1/4”-1/8” inch around the stamp. Do not try to remove the stamp from the envelope. It will ruin the stamp.
    The Illinois Audubon Society accepts
  • Canceled commemoratives
  • Airmail stamps
  • Express mail stamps
  • Foreign stamps
  • Duck stamps
  • State conservation stamps
  • High denomination definitives (before 1940 or denominations of $1.00 or more)
  • Picture postcards
  • Unused stamps, no matter how old
  • Stamp collections (complete or incomplete)
Orphanage in Mexico
In past years, during the Scholastic Book Fair, cash donations and books were collected to provide books to an orphanage in Mexico.
